    Welcome to the blog…

    Hi Everyone,

    Welcome to our ‘Blog’.

We’ll be using this to keep you informed about anything interesting that happens at Wia Music.

    First up:

Woodie is still in the shed designing the next few products, and once we have patents filed for then we can let you all know about them. I know there’s a few of you keen to see them, so it won’t be long.

    NAMM 2010:

Paul Templeman and I are exhibiting at NAMM 2010 and we are situated in Hall E: Booth 1682. It’s the quieter hall, so if you want a sit down and a cup of coffee, then I’ll have milk with no sugar and I’ll provide the chairs and conversation ;-)

Paul will be demoing Woodies G-Band throughout the weekend and we’ll be showing off Woodies Hanger (difficult as they are transparent).

    Our first months:

Have been great! Thank-you to everyone who has bought the hangers and to everyone who has viewed the website. We’re really quite surprised with the initial sales and interest. We have to give a special nod to Neville Marten and everyone at Future, who have been really supportive.

We’ve had some fantastic feedback from customers and forum readers, so thanks to everyone who helped with the development of the products and the website.

Special thanks go to Scott Spock photography and Rufus design.

The gallery is looking really good and please keep your pictures coming in, the more the merrier.

    Woodies G-Band:

Harvey Reid has used the G-Band on two tracks on his wonderful new album Blues & Branches available here.

    Christmas:

Royal Mail assure me that we should be able to post in the UK right up until Dec 23rd for Xmas delivery and 21st for the Rest of the World. If you can place your orders asap though just in case.

I’ve heard rumours that occasionally our PayPal link has been playing up, please, if you have difficulty ordering, don’t hesitate to email me at adrian@wiamusic.com, or call 01915561052.

Ok I think thats it for now, I’ll top up later if I have forgotten anything.

Again thanks for all your support and here’s to a great New Year for everyone, if you have any questions or funny emails, please get in touch.

All the best and Merry Christmas.

    Customer Reviews

Here are some of the new reviews we have received from Woodies Hanger owners…

I got it sorted for two guitars. It’s a fantastic ingenious little thing. Not sure which one of you created this, (and you really don’t want to waste your money on, let alone need the expenses of a bull*hit Marketing Dept here), but the product speaks for itself. Absolutely brilliant! For those who love and respect their guitars it protects them from the common “hanging” by the neck (until dead)! Well done! Don’t worry about recommendations – your customers are and will be your Marketing Department. Rock on!!!
    Mark Merton

    Great!
    Thank you Adrian.
I am going to buy 3 more sets… now they are cheaper than the first time I bought mine :P PP
Already spreading the word among my friends on how great this little things are!

Hi i would just like to say thank you, i received my brackets in the post today..i will defiantly use your service again..thank you very much once again
    regards, Sean Wardel

Thank you very much for the immediate responsee. You have a great product and if and when I buy another guitar I will buy another one of your brackets.
    Best regards
    Rich Dennis

History: It’s the coolest guitar hanger I’ve ever seen. It’s two pieces of translucent polycarbonate that mount to any wall or even the ceiling and hold the guitar by the strap buttons. The hanger never even touches the guitar! It locks in securely and comes out with the flick of a finger. When the guitar is on the wall you can barely see the hanger and because it’s translucent, it’s hardly noticeable when the guitar of off the wall. The thing is genius. The model I bought hangs guitars like Strats and Teles but they have models that hang Les Pauls with the angled headstocks and SG’s with the strap button on the back
Pros: No mess on the neck of my guitar and it’s up off the floor where it can’t get knocked over. I also liked that I can hang it at any angle I want – diagonal, vertical, horizontal, upside down…whatever. I also like that it doesn’t look ugly when it’s off the wall. Easy to install. All you need is a drill and a screwdriver.
Cons: Nothing. Best guitar hanger I’ve ever found. Wish they had a model for acoustic guitars.
Quality: The thing is tough. I think it could hold the heaviest electric guitars no problem. The brackets are strong and the moveable one is easy to flex to remove or replace the guitar. The packaging is cool too.
Review Summary: It’s definitely worth $20. I’ve got my guitar up exactly where and how I want it. The flexibility the hanger allows for putting your guitar anywhere is awesome!

I bought a set of these and found it easy to install and looks good. Recommend to anyone who likes to look at their Guitars hanging
    Blair Deans

Easy to install. Since you cannot see the hangers, the guitar looks like its floating in air. Very cool. I hung the guitar (Les Paul) straight vertical. I will buy this again if I ever hang another guitar.

    Good Eh? :-)

The Holidays are coming, The Holidays are coming

as per usual, around this time of year I die of flu for the whole winter period. However, Scott’s around to send out your Woodies seasonal gifts.

Good luck to Jordan Henderson tonight playing for England for the first time.

Website hits are through the roof since the Ads in Guitar World and the review in the holiday guide. Thank you all!

We’re going to do a new video when the weather gets a little better (probably in July knowing Sunderland weather!), to show everyone how strong the hangers are.
I’m going to drive the car over one. I’ve tried it. The hangers are fine. Don’t laugh at my car. Please.

The video of how the hangers work is getting some good hits on youtube. All the videos can be found on the video page. I’ve shaved my beard off since then. I regret it.

We’ve got some great news coming up. Especially if you’re a Rush fan.

    I’ll tell you later :-)

Please get in touch if you have any questions at all about Woodies Products or anything about website. I enjoy the conversation. I’m not like a rock star, I reply to all your emails :-)

    Anyhoo, keep hanging those axes.

    Adrian

Woodies Hanger, The perfect Christmas Present for Guitarists

HANG A GUITAR NEXT TO YOUR STOCKING THIS CHRISTMAS

Searching for the perfect Christmas present can often be a stressful experience, especially when the recipient appears to already have everything they want. This year, guitar gizmo producer Wia Music is giving the friends and families of guitar lovers everywhere the ideal Christmas gift idea with its unique creation – Woodie’s Hanger.

A fantastic space saving device that makes a guitar appear to invisibly hang from the wall – or even the ceiling, Woodie’s Hanger offers an unusual yet creative gift experience this festive season.

The Hanger works by securely supporting the guitar by its strap buttons, allowing no stress on the neck and no damage to the body. In fact, the brackets do not even touch the guitar. This also means that guitars can be displayed at any angle, with a quick release, flexible top bracket to quickly and simply remove it.

When the guitar has been removed from its position, the Hanger is barely visible.

Available in three different models, Woodie’s Hanger can display most guitars. The Standard Model is for guitars with narrow bodies, strap buttons on the side and a straight headstock such as most Fender electrics, Squire, Encore and Yamaha guitars.

The Vert Model is for guitars with an angled headstock, where the head of the guitar is angled backwards, and can be used with Gibson, Ephipone Les Pauls and Paul Reed Smith guitars.

Finally, the GS Model is suitable for Gibson SG and semi hollow ES-335 guitars with their strap buttons found on the back.

Woodie’s Hanger is easily fitted, meaning your music-loving loved ones can keep their pride and joy out of danger and won’t have to constantly worry about it being knocked over.

Priced at just £11.99, Woodie’s Hanger is the answer to Christmas shoppers’ prayers as the perfect stocking filler for guitar fans and collectors. You could even hang it up over the fireplace next to their stocking!

For more information, a video demonstration on how the Hanger is fitted and to buy Woodie’s Hanger, visit www.wiamusic.com.

    Holiday Season

    Hello all,

We’re gearing up for a very busy Christmas…

With a little editorial and a series of ads in Guitar World, we think it’s only a matter of time before everyone has a floating guitar on there wall.

We’ve put the acoustic model on hold until later in the year, I wanted to redesign the slot-head version (it’s currently too big).

We should have some prototypes of our newest product soon also :-) keep watching!!

I’d best get some work done :-(

    A

    Update.

    Hello there.

Well it’s been a quite few weeks, but the Glastonbury Blues have gone (at last) and we’re gearing up for a very busy few months.

We have a few packaging changes in place and some wonderful new Counter Display boxes, which will make the Hangers a little easier to find in your various stores.

Georges Music in the USA have a guitar hung on every store wall, so if you’re near to one, pop in and ask for a demo!

It’s been a hot summer so far in the UK and it seems strange to be gearing up for Christmas and Winter NAMM, but we’re shooting the new advert in a few weeks time and digging all the Xmas decorations out :-)

The Acoustic Hanger is rapidly approaching. We start tooling next week and we have decided to put both a standard and slot head model in the pack.

    So that’s all for now.

    Speak soon

Starting a business and other things

    Hello all,

It’s not getting any quieter here at Wia Music HQ.

Scott and I are  working on the Acoustic Model with AMAP and Hexham Developments, and we’re working hard to get the existing hangers into your local shop.

We’re working with a bunch of distributors and they’re a good group of people.

We’re a new company, but Scott and I have been very careful to choose cool people who believe in the products to work with.

For anyone involved in a start up business, you will know what its like, and anyone who is thinking about it, my advice is…..JUST DO IT!

I think if you believe you’re product is good and are prepared to work hard, then it’s the most amazing experience.

Also, if you’re looking for some cool guitar stuff, can I recommend Saint Blues Guitars, Fleabass, Grover Allman Picks and Third Hand Capo this month….NICE!!

Oh and check out the Spanish Website Perren has made at www.wiamusic.es…AGRIDABLE!!!!

Ok folks enough of my babble….I’m off to vote!

    Reviews..

I will keep adding to this as we get them…

Here are some of the wonderful things people are saying about Woodies Hanger

So when was the last time you knocked over a guitar?

Well, for me it was all too recent… in a prestigious studio in Hollywood… with one of the most famous recording engineer-producers in the business. And it was *his* priceless vintage guitar.
    Gulp.

Lucky for me the guitar was unscathed… my blood pressure didn’t get off so lightly, though.

So I’m all too mindful of the need to store your precious guitar safely out the way of bumbling cameramen ;-]
And when I saw guitars seemingly stuck invisibly to the walls of a little stand in Hall 4 at the Messe, I was intrigued.
Turns out they weren’t screwed or superlued, but were safely… yet removably… held there by a clever little gadget called aWoodies Hanger.

There at the stand was none other than the inventor himself, Colin Woodland, who explained how it’d all come about after a trip to another music show…

    http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2010/04/01/messe10-wanna-mount-your-guitar-on-the-ceiling/

There have been many ways to hang things on walls over the history of the human race. A lot of the time a simple nail through the item to be hung may suffice, but beating a nine inch nail through your pristine 70’s Strat’ may not be quite what you want to do. Cutting a notch in the rear of an old and no longer playable guitar may be OK, but what if there’s a chance you might want to resurrect the body in the future?

If you don’t want to damage your instrument but never had the necessary joinery skills to create a frame to mount it in, then your options used to be fairly limited. You could hang the guitar by it’s neck, straight down the wall for everyone to see in all it’s glory. Your choice ranged to the manufacturer of the hook. The Hercules models are certainly know for their decent locking mechanisms. But what if you are a bit more.. avant garde.. A little bit kooky, or just generally like to do things your own way, including the choosing angle/surface you attach your guitar too?

If you fall into this group, ten the Woodie’s Hanger from WIA Music may be for you. WIA Music are a UK based company consisting of two rather inventive chaps who like to make interesting things for guitars. Wall mounting aside they also create an interesting partial capo.

Woodie’s Hanger is *nearly* invisible if you read the marketing, though in reality the hanger can be spotted, but it is a see-through plastic, and so isn’t too ugly to look at. The hanger supports the guitar using the strap buttons and the hangers individual ‘hooks’ have to be positioned for the guitar you want to hang. If you’ve ever hung a picture using a drill, plug and screw then you should have all the technical know how you need to fit the hangers to the wall.

As the hangers use the strap buttons the guitar can be mounted on any flat surface, wall, ceiling or otherwise. Again due to using the strap buttons, no stress is placed on the neck to support the guitar, depending on where you sit in reference to the fence this may or may not keep your guitar in tune better.

Compared to other hangers out there the system allows you to mount the guitar on any flat surface at any angle you like. Fitting the system is easy enough and the nifty ‘push and pull’ technique for taking the guitar down and putting it back works well.

Overall a sound product, that keeps my guitar flying high.

    Many thanks Adrian,

Confirm SG now sitting beautifully on wall. Thanks again for the fast response & very good customer service.

    Hi,

loving your solution to studio space/guitar art… To ensure I’m getting the right kit can you let me know if I’m right…

Thanks for your help… I’m also interested in those crazy G clamp thingies.

    best wishes

    Hi Adrian,

Was the website easy to work with?
Yes the website was very easy to work with and the payment area was also very easy to navigate.

    Did the Hanger arrive quickly/safely?
The Hanger arrived well packaged, and within a couple of days of purchasing the item online.

    Was it easy to install?
    very easy to install.

    Jonni Thurling
    Hi Adrian,

I answer your three first questions with a big YES !

I like the Hanger because it keeps my Fender Telecaster in line with the others guitars

    Jean Claude Desliard

Yes it worked out great.   The website was great, very easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for.  The hangers arrived quickly (from the UK I’m guessing?) and were in excellent condition upon arrival.  Actual installation was easy, but I chose to use toggle bolts instead of the drywall mounts you sent me.  The hangers work great and I’ve gotten oodles of “wows” from them – I will send pictures as soon as I get them onto my server.

    Levis Johnson

    Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the info and the quick service, the two sets of hangers arrived today and are up already. As requested here are a couple of photos.

    Regards

    Philip Allberry

    Back From Frankfurt

German Beer is bad for me……

Musikmesse 2010 was great…hard work but great.

We have lined up distribution in several new regions and will be updating the website as we get orders in.

There have been some very interesting developments and some new ideas for products, which we will keep you informed about in the coming weeks…

The Acoustic Model got a run out at MM and the response is great. Tooling starts next week after we tweek the prototypes. So the less noisy of you can display your steel strings above the TV.

I could do with a months sleep now, but I don’t think that will happen somehow!!

    Regards

    Adrian

    Busy busy busy

    Hi Folks,

We’re gearing up for Musikmesse and hopefully the launch of a new product or two.

Scott is packing up the new brackets as we speak and I thought I would let you know a few things about the Hanger, to keep you entertained.

    1. The Hangers will easily support the weight of a Bass Guitar, even if it’s made from lead.

    2. The instructions we supply may seem a little complex, but if you look a the pictures as well, they aren’t. If you have any problems fitting the Hangers then just check the Video section and follow what Phil does. The reason the instructions are so in depth is that we really want you to fit the brackets correctly and not kill the cat with your PRS.

    3. We at Wia understand that traditionally neck hanging systems have been used to wall mount your guitar. There are a couple of ‘angle’ hangers also available on the market, however, they don’t hang at ‘ALL’ angles, because you’re guitar would fall out, and kill the cat. Likewise, if your child/wife pushed upwards on your Strat it would come straight out of other ‘mounts’. WOODIES HANGER LOCKS IN THE STRAP BUTTONS SO THE GUITAR IS CLIPPED OUT BY THE USER, IT TAKES SECONDS AND THUS CAN BE USED TO HANG THE GUITAR UPRIGHT/ANGLED/UPSIDE DOWN/DOWNSIDE UP/ALL WAYS IMAGINABLE

    4. Re. Previous bullet point: Woodies Hanger really is THE BEST GUITAR HANGER AVAILABLE.

    • It is totally secure. THE GUITAR CANNOT FALL OUT/OFF.
    • It is VERY easy to install, really, no kidding I put one up……..I’m a drummer.
    • The Polycarbonate Brackets WILL NOT SNAP/BREAK. They make bullet proof glass out of the same stuff.
    • The Hanger holds the Guitar at ALL ANGLES by the strap buttons NOT the neck.
    • There isn’t an awful lot to see, the brackets are water clear and show the guitar off not the Hanger.
    • Your mates will be jealous

Please email me if there is anything else I have missed.

    See you in Germany

    Woodie (Jnr.)
