Woodie has played guitar for over 50 years and has always had some crazy effects pedal he’s made, or a self-customised guitar.
He decided in 2000 that he needed an edge. He thought if he could buy a capo to hold down the top E string at G he could get a banjo sound a la Albert Lee. He then surfed the net as far as the Sterner Capo Museum and couldn’t find anything, so Woodie set about making one. The result was the G-Band a single string capo. The G-Band II followed shortly afterwards and with rave reviews from the guitar press, the first of a new range of must have, guitar gadgets was born.
Woodies latest invention, the Hanger, came about when he visited NAMM in 2005. Through chatting to one or two guitar manufacturers, he set about solving the problem of having to re-spray the guitar headstock at the end of manufacture. He wandered off to count the guitars hung by the neck at the exhibition… almost all of them.
Upon his return to the UK he set about working on his design, he had a clear image that the guitar would have to hang by the strap buttons and at any angle, on wall and ceiling. Woodies Hanger took a year to get the design right, but the final product is undoubtedly THE best way you can display a guitar.
