I will keep adding to this as we get them…

Here are some of the wonderful things people are saying about Woodies Hanger

So when was the last time you knocked over a guitar?

Well, for me it was all too recent… in a prestigious studio in Hollywood… with one of the most famous recording engineer-producers in the business. And it was *his* priceless vintage guitar.
    Gulp.

Lucky for me the guitar was unscathed… my blood pressure didn’t get off so lightly, though.

So I’m all too mindful of the need to store your precious guitar safely out the way of bumbling cameramen ;-]
And when I saw guitars seemingly stuck invisibly to the walls of a little stand in Hall 4 at the Messe, I was intrigued.
Turns out they weren’t screwed or superlued, but were safely… yet removably… held there by a clever little gadget called aWoodies Hanger.

There at the stand was none other than the inventor himself, Colin Woodland, who explained how it’d all come about after a trip to another music show…

There have been many ways to hang things on walls over the history of the human race. A lot of the time a simple nail through the item to be hung may suffice, but beating a nine inch nail through your pristine 70’s Strat’ may not be quite what you want to do. Cutting a notch in the rear of an old and no longer playable guitar may be OK, but what if there’s a chance you might want to resurrect the body in the future?

If you don’t want to damage your instrument but never had the necessary joinery skills to create a frame to mount it in, then your options used to be fairly limited. You could hang the guitar by it’s neck, straight down the wall for everyone to see in all it’s glory. Your choice ranged to the manufacturer of the hook. The Hercules models are certainly know for their decent locking mechanisms. But what if you are a bit more.. avant garde.. A little bit kooky, or just generally like to do things your own way, including the choosing angle/surface you attach your guitar too?

If you fall into this group, ten the Woodie’s Hanger from WIA Music may be for you. WIA Music are a UK based company consisting of two rather inventive chaps who like to make interesting things for guitars. Wall mounting aside they also create an interesting partial capo.

Woodie’s Hanger is *nearly* invisible if you read the marketing, though in reality the hanger can be spotted, but it is a see-through plastic, and so isn’t too ugly to look at. The hanger supports the guitar using the strap buttons and the hangers individual ‘hooks’ have to be positioned for the guitar you want to hang. If you’ve ever hung a picture using a drill, plug and screw then you should have all the technical know how you need to fit the hangers to the wall.

As the hangers use the strap buttons the guitar can be mounted on any flat surface, wall, ceiling or otherwise. Again due to using the strap buttons, no stress is placed on the neck to support the guitar, depending on where you sit in reference to the fence this may or may not keep your guitar in tune better.

Compared to other hangers out there the system allows you to mount the guitar on any flat surface at any angle you like. Fitting the system is easy enough and the nifty ‘push and pull’ technique for taking the guitar down and putting it back works well.

Overall a sound product, that keeps my guitar flying high.

    Hi Adrian,

Was the website easy to work with?
Yes the website was very easy to work with and the payment area was also very easy to navigate.

    Did the Hanger arrive quickly/safely?
The Hanger arrived well packaged, and within a couple of days of purchasing the item online.

    very easy to install.

    Hi Adrian,

I answer your three first questions with a big YES !

I like the Hanger because it keeps my Fender Telecaster in line with the others guitars

Yes it worked out great.   The website was great, very easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for.  The hangers arrived quickly (from the UK I’m guessing?) and were in excellent condition upon arrival.  Actual installation was easy, but I chose to use toggle bolts instead of the drywall mounts you sent me.  The hangers work great and I’ve gotten oodles of “wows” from them – I will send pictures as soon as I get them onto my server.

    Back From Frankfurt

German Beer is bad for me……

Musikmesse 2010 was great…hard work but great.

We have lined up distribution in several new regions and will be updating the website as we get orders in.

There have been some very interesting developments and some new ideas for products, which we will keep you informed about in the coming weeks…

The Acoustic Model got a run out at MM and the response is great. Tooling starts next week after we tweek the prototypes. So the less noisy of you can display your steel strings above the TV.

I could do with a months sleep now, but I don’t think that will happen somehow!!

    Regards

    Adrian

    Busy busy busy

    Hi Folks,

We’re gearing up for Musikmesse and hopefully the launch of a new product or two.

Scott is packing up the new brackets as we speak and I thought I would let you know a few things about the Hanger, to keep you entertained.

    1. The Hangers will easily support the weight of a Bass Guitar, even if it’s made from lead.

    2. The instructions we supply may seem a little complex, but if you look a the pictures as well, they aren’t. If you have any problems fitting the Hangers then just check the Video section and follow what Phil does. The reason the instructions are so in depth is that we really want you to fit the brackets correctly and not kill the cat with your PRS.

    3. We at Wia understand that traditionally neck hanging systems have been used to wall mount your guitar. There are a couple of ‘angle’ hangers also available on the market, however, they don’t hang at ‘ALL’ angles, because you’re guitar would fall out, and kill the cat. Likewise, if your child/wife pushed upwards on your Strat it would come straight out of other ‘mounts’. WOODIES HANGER LOCKS IN THE STRAP BUTTONS SO THE GUITAR IS CLIPPED OUT BY THE USER, IT TAKES SECONDS AND THUS CAN BE USED TO HANG THE GUITAR UPRIGHT/ANGLED/UPSIDE DOWN/DOWNSIDE UP/ALL WAYS IMAGINABLE

    4. Re. Previous bullet point: Woodies Hanger really is THE BEST GUITAR HANGER AVAILABLE.

    • It is totally secure. THE GUITAR CANNOT FALL OUT/OFF.
    • It is VERY easy to install, really, no kidding I put one up……..I’m a drummer.
    • The Polycarbonate Brackets WILL NOT SNAP/BREAK. They make bullet proof glass out of the same stuff.
    • The Hanger holds the Guitar at ALL ANGLES by the strap buttons NOT the neck.
    • There isn’t an awful lot to see, the brackets are water clear and show the guitar off not the Hanger.
    • Your mates will be jealous

Please email me if there is anything else I have missed.

    See you in Germany

    Woodie (Jnr.)

    Gearing up for Musikmesse

    Hello all,

It’s been a busy few weeks, and now we’re getting ready to do it all again in Frankfurt.

    Hall 4.1 B14 Musikmesse

We will be launching the Slat Wall fixing for the Hangers and also THE ACOUSTIC HANGER

Woodie will be at Messe, along with Scott, Paul and I, so hopefully I’ll get to have a walk around a little (I didn’t see any of NAMM except the top of the escalator by Hall E, and the exit)

We are starting to get Hangers out to stores near you, if you take a look at the Stockists section, you’ll see we have many new countries on there, and we are updating all the time. There is still a lot of the world not covered, so if you’re a distributor in a region not listed, then please get in touch.

Well that’s it for now, thanks for buying the Hangers and I look forward to you bringing a beer to the stand in Frankfurt.

    Adrian

We’re back from NAMM and what a show!

    We got Best in Show…..Twice!

Todd Skaw and George Hines both voted Woodies products Best in Show in the something small catagory.

We have been mobbed ever since!
